HOME EXTENDED INTO GARDEN
@ Delgany, co.Wicklow
This project involved the construction of a contemporary 40sqm rear extension to an
existing detached two storey property that was built in the early 2000’s. The house had an east facing outdoor area that the clients never used and we wanted to bring this space into the house. At the same time we were conscious we didn’t want to lose too much of their garden. The area was integrated into the house, elongating the
existing rectangular footprint of the building. This resulted in the garden becoming much more cohesive – it remained L shaped but wraps around the new extension.
We wanted as much glazing as possible from the south facing garden and from the east so we installed wonderful corner windows in the extension. The clients now can appreciate the garden much more, and it gives the elusion and feel of a bigger than it ever has before.
