Extension & Renovation

Renovation and Extension Delgany

Delgany|County Wicklow|2014-2015

We were engaged by the clients to completely extend and renovate at the 1930’s cottage in quaint and picturesque townland of Delgany in County Wicklow.

This was a retirement home for our clients and they wished to have modern open plan layouts whilst taking advantage of the southerly facing rear garden. This small cottage was well built and  owned by the local council back in the 1930’s.

The house in question was bought in or around 2013 by a South African couple and they approached me about renovating the house as they had seen and heard about the work I did on a similar cottage five or six doors down from them.

At the front of the property we renovated a single storey bungalow and at the back of the house there was a long extension which was in quite bad condition so we knocked it down. We basically rebuilt the house and gave the clients first floor accommodation whilst connecting the front and the back of the house together quite well.

It was important for our streets cape of our design to have the cottage feel with the new house being brought forward to the modern era with quite a substantial glazed extensions added on to the back and side of the house to maximize the southerly aspect and the landscaped garden.
